Hello Everyone,

I am proud to say i got one of the first copies of sally's newest fancarving book.
When you thought the first book was a good one you should definately take a look at this one.
The minute i opened it I started reading and absorbing every single detail I could .
In my opinion it is a book for everyone's tastes, beginners as well as advanced carvers and a very interesting subject to read about and get started with.
Sally and David Nye have explained in detail about its history and quite franckly I was very surprised to find out that the history of this kind of carving is and was actually much more diverse in all it aspects then i thought it was.

There are sections that are realy good for beginning carvers for excample where they explained some "wood basics"in detail like selecting wood, what kind of wood to choose and how to look at it to get the best piece,etc,...
The "wood performance" chapter is also a very inportant chapter written about and is followed by an explination of several woods experimented on, all with color pictures to illustrate every single detail you can think of.

Next the fundamentals of the art of fancarving are explained in a very comprehensive step by step manner, every detail has been looked at and if that was not enough the many pictures and illustrations surely make it almost to easy to understand how it works.

If you thought you already would have had a really good book just with that, think again.
Sally and David added no less then 18 different step by step projects to that, all accompanied by detailed illustrations, pictures and instructions on how to go about making each project.
To top everything of they added the "oops...but it's ok section" wich in my opinion is a brilliant addition wich explains and teaches a lot about common mistakes and what to avoid.

I loved every single detail in their newest book and can hardly wait to get started on one of the projects already. An angel or should i make a flower for my girlfriend first?

I hope you will all love it as much as i did.

Sincerely

Your friend from Finland

Harry
