[Woodcarver] Sad news about Pat O'Dea

Dear fellow carvers,

This is a copy of an email from Jim O'Dea (Pat O'Dea's brother) **********

Patrick O'Dae has been in critical care unit at Venice Regional hospital, Florida for the last 2 weeks..

He was experiencing nausea and headaches, went to the doctors who sent him to the hospital for test, they discovered a tumor on the brain and the kidney.

He had the tumor on the brain removed. The swelling of his brain from the tumor removal is still considerable and they have put a tube in to drain it. He sleeps a lot and when awake sometimes knows what is going on and who you are but sometimes not. They say that he is recovering as expected from a tumor removal.

The tumor was caused by the same infection that got his knee years ago, plus an additional bacterial infection. They are treating with 2 antibiotics.

The kidney tumor is cancerous but it is a slow growing cancer and does not spread so it is not of immediate concern and will be taken care of after he stabilizes from the brain tumor removal.
