Bill - Please ignore the rest of this message :)

Folks
In my humble opinion, I will be recommending Bill Judt

While Bill is not one to seek the limelight, his craftsmanship is ranks up there with the masters of time. His ability to portray stories in relief are second to none and inspiring. His contributions to woodcarving includes many books and ebooks that allow beginners and seasoned woodcarvers the ability to produce works of art.

In addition, he pioneered the first woodcarving eZine on the network and has provided articles on finishing, layout and fabricating lumber for relief as well as other How-To's. More importantly, he established and maintains a listserve for woodcarvers that foster and promotes woodcarving. Where he and others openly share their knowledge with others.

While I have not had the opportunity to take a class from Bill, but I have heard from from those who have and the reviews have all been excellent. I do have many of his books and his instructions are clear and his designs inspiring.

Bill's works are like the those of old masters, Leonardao Da Vinci and others, will be enjoyed for years to come.

Blessings and Peace
Lynn

Who should be the next Woodcarving Illustrated Woodcarver of the Year?

Most carvers have been influenced and inspired by teachers or artists in the field. This is your chance to pay recognition to those that have had an impact on your carving career. WCI wants to hear who you think deserves this prestigious recognition.

Here are a few things to think about as you ponder your nomination:

Who is making a significant contribution to woodcarving today?
What modern woodcarver best meets the following criteria?
• Craftsmanship and Artistry
• Contributions to woodcarving publications and other media
• Expertise as an instructor
• Promotion of woodcarving

While it is not essential that candidates be teachers or writers, the quality of their work and their efforts to encourage and promote woodcarving are important.

Past winners include:
Harold Enlow
Pat Goudin
Desiree Hajny
Rick Butz
Wayne Barton
Marv Kaisersatt
Ed Gallenstein
Lora S. Irish

E-mail your nominations to duncan at foxchapelpublishing.com.
Deadline for nominations is May 15, 2008.

Thanks!
