Hi Jan, We have a "spoon man" near here that uses "Tried and True
Danish Oil" for all his cooking and eating spoons. It's a
polymerized flax seed oil. Put the finished spoon or fork in the oil
and let it set for three days. Take it out, wipe it off and let it
dry for three months. At that time it is ready to use for any
foods. Will not go rancid, pick up stains or taste funny. It's a
neat finish. Have mine in a tupperware like container with a sealed
lid, just keep adding to it as needed. Does not film over or harden
in the container. Hope that helps.
