Bud is a member of our wood carving club and a personal friend. He makes a
great knife. I think the Murphy knife is a good knife but there are others
I like better. Hmmmmmmmmm, maybe its personal taste. However, I would not
turn anyone away from a Murphy knife. If you had bad luck with the Murphy
and was able to sharpen other to your liking, maybe you got a bad one?

OOPS, Sorry Folks.
I didn't intend for my comment on the Murphy knife to be negative at all.
It was my first knife and I used it a lot. Eventually, it became dull and I
tried to sharpen it using my medium(brown) and fine(white) stones. I didn't
have any luck so I bought a Bud Morrow knife. When it became dull I found
that I was able to sharpen it without problem. I have since tried the Murphy
knife several times and I just cannot seem to be able to get it sharp. So
there it sits unused. I am sure that they are a decent knife but others work
better for me. I now have several Bud Morrow knives and two Lee Ferguson
knives which I am able sharpen easily.
