Hi Fellow Carvers,
The Woodcarving Class for the Disabled Veterans is still on for the week of August 3, in spite of more bad news. Another disabled veteran committed suicide. I had no idea what an epidemic suicide is with our veterans. I'm told that Sunday night 9PM CDT on HBO there is a special that will give us some idea of what our most recent veterans have gone through. I don't have HBO but maybe some of you do. I'm told that the famous picture of the medic holding a baby when we first went into Iraq, that medic committed suicide about a month ago. Prayers are needed for an end to this war and healing to all who were involved. I'm sorry to bring you such sad news.
A meeting is scheduled for July 26 to make sure the class is still on and arrange the final details. I hope that all goes well and Sharon and I will be flying to Camp Pendleton on Sunday August 2. I'm not sure but I think we have 6 students and hoping to get a few more.
Again, thanks to all of you who have donated tools and supplies to these disabled veterans. You've made this class possible. Clearly there is a need. This time I hope to actually get those tools in their hands and show them how to use them.
Forever grateful,
Joe Dillett
