[Woodcarver] Canes for Vets

At eaglecane.com, the home of the original Eagle Cane Project, there 
is a list of representatives by state.  James Tipton of the 
Chattahoochee Wood Carvers is the state representative to the 
project.  The issue has been the confidentiality laws, which I 
totally understand.  Jack Nitz has been able to work around that and 
has been pretty good at providing names of Veterans for the 
canes.  Here in Maine, we have been able to work with the assistant 
director at Togus VA hospital.  He is referring people to us...that 
way we don't violate confidentiality at all.  We are lucky that he is 
very much in favor of the project, and is a wannabee carver, to 
boot!  It seems that what we need to do is get the word out about the 
project and have veterans come to us.  Once they know about it, there 
will be a lot of people wanting them, I'm sure.  I was just talking 
with someone here who is active in either American Legion or VFW....I 
can't remember which.  She is going to get the word our for us too.
