[Woodcarver] To lathe or not to lathe.... that is the question

it is better to make your own but I would buy a wood is good mallet first,  
then you will have all the time in the world to perfect making one on the  
lathe.   Things to consider, weight(heavier is not always  better) and comfort of 
handle
