[Woodcarver] Carving letters in oak boards

You have gotten some excellent answers to your question. I'd just like to add that there is a different look to a hand carved sign and a mechanically carved sign. For a park I'd rather see gouge marks for a more rustic look. It may take longer- but for a carver who enjoys carving- what does that matter.
