Hi Dick, Pat and Karen,

I got your messages. Things have been quiet on the List. Must be what Matt
said, everyone is carving. I had a disabled veteran, Mark Collens, here most
of the day for a carving lesson. He's been working on a grape leaf relief
and a free-form mirror, both in butternut. Next week Saturday he wants to
start a walnut mantel. He thinks that he's ready and who and I to argue? LOL

When we were at Camp Pendleton Sharon gave $100, for a commission, to one of
the disabled veterans in the class, Jeremy, to carve us a Christmas
Ornament. We got it yesterday. Wow, it's really something. I'll have to post
a picture if I can ever pry it out of Sharon's hands long enough to take a
picture. It's an 8-inch tall Santa with a Santa hat and beard, standing at
attention, in Marine dress blues with Jeremy's two Purple Hearts and the
rest of his metals. Instead of a rifle in his hand he's got a big V-tool
with the Two Cherry logo. He did a great job and we'll treasure it always.

Jeremy is getting discharged soon and going back to South Dakota. He's
planning on coming to GOW 2009.

I'm trying to get a few crucifixes done before Christmas. The clay class is
going good. I really love throwing pots on the wheel. I'm even thinking
about getting my own potter's wheel. I never know throwing pots could be so
much fun.We started hand-building last week. Our first project was a mask.
