Good Afternoon Woodcarver List Members -


I'd like to take a moment to acknowledge recent donations to support  
the Woodcarver List made by John Anderson and Alex Bisso.    John and  
Alex are long-time members of the List and their support is  
appreciated.   To see a list of 2009 supporters,  please visit this

Newer members of the List may wonder, "What's this all about?"


Like any activity, there is a real cost in running the Woodcarver  
List; ISP fees, file space charges, software and hardware, and time  
taken away from other activities.

Long-time List members know that for a number of years the Woodcarver  
List has been supported by voluntary contributions from List members.  
When I took over the Woodcarver List last fall, I delayed making a  
decision on how best to seek support for the costs associated with  
running the List.

Now, after considering alternatives, such as commercial advertising,  
and after consulting with the members of the List Advisory Team, it  
has been decided to continue the tradition of voluntary contributions.

A donation to support the List is NOT a subscription fee or annual  
membership, and is NOT a requirement.  Let me repeat that - a donation  
is not a requirement - it is strictly voluntary.   If you are unable  
to support the List, or choose not to, you are still always welcome  
and encouraged to participate in the List conversations.

In other List news,  we are considering several new initiatives,   
including the possibility of LIMITED posting of photos to the List,   
as well as the construction of an optional  List member biography  
page,  which will help members learn more about each other, and will
