Matt, you're more than welcome. Fish decoys were my first attempts at
carving.
I, too, have a couple of decoys carved by Bob Gallandt. I met Bob at the
Woodcarvers Roundup in Michigan ten years ago and we became friends. We
exchanged fish decoys for a couple of years before he was unable to carve
or travel any longer. Bob was a great friend and one I think about
often, because he was one who encouraged me in my teaching of carving
early on ( and who also kept reminding me about how important it was to
remind students of safe practices in the use of carving tools).
I, too, have been given my carving in the exchange by Sandie Bergdorff.
However she delivered it in person as I entered the Dayton show a couple
of weeks ago. Thecarving is a cottage sited on some boulders. It is
really neat and I like it a lot. Thank you, Sandie, where ever you are.
And thanks also for coordinating the reminder about my need to travel
with a supply of my unmentionables at all times. I show the reminder to
only my closest friends--I didn't even show them to my parents yet.
