[Woodcarver] Mush's latest carving - Chat..the meaning behind the carving

Hi, Joe,

The story behind this carving:  It was purchased as a gift for the 
purchaser's mom.  Mom has a collection of wood spirits, but none of 
them are female.  She had seen one years ago that she liked and has 
regretted not getting it ever since.  Mom has had a rough spell, 
first losing her husband to cancer 3 years ago and recently being 
herself diagnosed with very early stages of breast.  Her prognosis is 
"excellent", and her attitude very positive, her daughter wanted her 
to have something with special meaning this Christmas.  Mom loves to 
watch the birds, particularly swallows.  I was asked to include a 
swallow and a nest with 2 eggs representing the daughter and her 
sister.  I included my signature oak leaf for several reasons.  It is 
a symbol of strength, which seemed appropriate,  but also tends to 
have something of a masculine connotation.  I thought it would, in a 
way. complete mom's family.
So...there you have it :)
