As with many things "it depends".
First "a lot of time" can mean anything.
Second the amount of time you spend on Facebook depends on several
things. One of the most important things is how people you allow to "be
your friend". The fewer friends the less stuff. Another is to learn
how to skim so that you don't read everything or respond to everything.
There's lots so and so sends you a .... Many people play games and
stuff is displayed concerning their games, easy to pick out skip
over. I've been on facebook for quite a while now and find it really
good to keep track of my kids and grandkids. They put things there that
they might not say in person or is putting out information for friends.
Social networking is can be a good thing. I also use twitter. It's
been great fun following the giant accelerator in Switzerland. (CERN)
