Hey! Its a good thing you aren't the carving sherriff there. We can only have one sherriff and that's George Bashore. He teaches with a 1/2" wood chisel and gets cranky if you use anything eles ! Just as Sheila! Good idea again!

Yeah Chuck, the tool requirement will be the sticking point. I will allow people to use whatever tools they have but will be demonstrating the proper way to do it. I'm not the carving sherriff and if they must use stop cuts I won't send them to the corner. I guess I can make some of my tools available also. As for the wood I think I will be using Aspen as it is readily available here in the city. My parks dept class uses it and we all seem to like it. You just try getting basswood down here in New York City. LOL And the price of basswood would skyrocket if I had to have it shipped in. 3/4" is sufficient for a relief if I want them to finish in a day but I'll poke around in Jersey and see what I can come up with. Oak Leaves is a good Idea esp. since Iv'e done quite a few of them. So maybe it will the students choice of oak leaves or acanthus. And they will start with a blank piece of wood.
Thanks Mush wish You were in my class too, it would be nice to finally meet you
I was also thinking of doing a quick evening class on carving those little miniature wolves. I've carved and sold close to 150 now and I have it down to a science. Only problem is that I see wolves in my dreams. LOL
Okay keep the comments coming.

Now my topics for discussion are, if you were to come and take my class.... first which design would you be more interested in doing and why.?? Would you rather the design already be on the wood or should I make my students transfer the pattern lines themselves?? Would you find this class interesting?? Any?else you can?think of?would be great and all suggestions will help alot.? Thanks"
