Joe- I think we should do whatever we feel like doing! So there.
I personally have dozens of unfinshed projects floating around here. Most of them just weren't coming out right and I lost interest in trying to fix them. One of these was that self-portrait I started in a class in 2001. (remember that link to the blog I did on the project: http://portraitcarving.blogspot.com/ ) Maybe I wasn't ready for that level of carving, or just didn't spend enough time with it- but it was bad. When I took it out a couple of months ago I knew what I needed to do- and so I did it. Now, it is ready for a final sanding and finish and it will be done. One reason for it not being completed yet is because I'd like to think of a way to incorporate this work into something more complete. As it is it is just a class project, and I'd like to turn it into a 'work of art'- or at least something prettier. I hope it doesn't take me another 7 years to do that.
Then maybe I'll tackle another 'failure'- if I want to, that is.
Heck- it is our hobby- we should do whatever floats our boat- right?!
