Hi Peter,
As I am a retired carpenter trust me in that all my tools are very sharp, I hand sharpen my turning tools which is something most turners don't due, but I am not fond of losing my steel as fast as the rest of the turners, so yep I do get a little ok a lot crazy about sharp tools. But you are right in that most turners tools are not as sharp.
