[Woodcarver] white worms in my wood

I am almost finished carving a diamond willow cane. I have carved a face with the beard spiraling down the cane and also a diamond back rattler going spiraling down also.

Problem: I have run into some worm holes that have white worms in them...how can I kill them and make sure that I have gotten rid of them? I wear a mask while sanding but could this be something I should be especially careful with as I have asthma and sure don't want to complicate my breathing problem any more than it already is.

Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated...this is a gift that really needs to get completed....thanks to all of you!

Soak the cane in coleoil or Naptha gas or Methyl Hydrate Can be bought in a hardware store

Soak an old cloth with it and VERYwet wrap around stick overnight (OUTSIDE)
Do NOT keep it inside and dispose of the rag AFTER you have aired it out well so it is good and dry again

Good luck
