[Woodcarver] Highlighting antler designs

I recently started carving deer antlers, but the design is often difficult
to see without proper lighting. Is there a way for me to highlight the
carving; can I use bleach to whiten the antler, and is shoe polish the best
way to highlight the design? Should I seal the antler?
