Hi Evan,

I have carved on antler before and I do a lot of turning with antler, I do use stain, and shoe polish, but I also use paints on my carvings then seal them. If you bleach the antler it will deteriorate some of the interior so you need to be careful but can wash on the bleach to lighten if you like. Hope that helps some.

I recently started carving deer antlers, but the design is often difficult to see without proper lighting. Is there a way for me to highlight the carving; can I use bleach to whiten the antler, and is shoe polish the best way to highlight the design? Should I seal the antler?

Looking forward to your thoughts.
