Jeff,
The bad start was far outweighed by others at the show and the show itself.
Like Maura and others and I said. someone like that is very rare in
woodcarver circles. It makes me wonder sometimes why they let me hang around
<G>.
I've got to e-mail Andy, but if you talk to him first, apologize again for
me if I came on a little too. ummmm. over agitated when I discovered the
shorted table. I know how tough organizing a show is, and he didn't need me
adding to the problems. I was pretty jazzed about Yvonne having a table
because even though we do arts-n-crafts shows together, your show was a
unique chance to have her participate equally at a woodcarving show. It's
going to be a hard sell, but there's next year, and I can probably sweet
talk her into another go. I'll just owe her a pound of flesh. well. another
pound of flesh.
Keep on Carvin'

Mike
We apologize for the bad start! Wish we could have avoided
it. Please be assured our memory is quite good and long! That exhibitor will
not be invited back!
We did have a good show for all the changes that this one
represented with Place and Date changes and the great addition of the "Spit
and Whittle" Hope more carvers, non-carvers, and collectors will come next
year!

I talked to her prior to the filming and in her defense; she was shooting it
with her still camera in movie mode and had limited memory.
Jan didn't have a booth. he was in the back teachin' youngins which was even
more worthy of video time IMHO.
Yeah Jan we did have fun, and it was a very good omen running into you and
Thea at the Info Center on route 81 <G>. I was hoping to scoop you and tell
stories about it before you got back from teaching, but. Despite a really
bad start personally, the show was very, very good. For its size, I'd say
great. Compared to the MVAWA show we used to do near Amsterdam and Albany,
it was better because it had more vendors. Lots of vendors, very high level
woodcarvings (and wildlife art) on display, and great attendance. The foot
traffic even had some non-carver/collectors mixed in which is rare for a
show that size. Met a whole lot of students from my classes at the
Northeast Woodcarver's Roundup (and Lancaster) and everyone is looking
forward to July. Even met "Young John" and his dad who were there from
Ohio.
The bad personal start? Yvonne and I were each supposed to have adjacent
tables. She does decorative painting and had several pieces that qualified
for the "Wildlife" part of the show. Unfortunately we didn't get to set-up
until late Friday and thanks to some selfish, "that'-their-problem-now"
action by one of the artists, we only had one table when we got there. Not
the unusual behavior we're used to from folks in woodcarving shows, which
made it that much harder to swallow. Then that artist, after pointing
fingers elsewhere, packed up and left Saturday night when her sales weren't
that great. I'm hoping the organizers have long memories because despite
saying they wouldn't be back anyway, I believe this artist counted on the
incident and their early exit having been forgotten by the time applications
go out for next year. I'm a firm believer in bad karma coming around to
bite you in the arse <G>.
