[Woodcarver] Koch Sharpening

Hi there Bob,

I don't know anything about the Koch but after looking at it at Woodcraft, it looks ok, but I'm a solid believer in my Tormek. Anything else similar to the Tormek, like the Jet, are just wannabes. I'm very comfortable with a 70 rpm water-cooled wheel, lots of attachments and a great leather stropping wheel. A few times I don't set up the jigs, I sharpen by eye for a quick touch up. And, if you get good at it you can make money sharpening things for people. I charge $2.00 a long knife and $1.00 for a short one. I've saved many a butcher knife for hunters that started out being serrated. I've had my Tormek for a few years and already I've made enough to cover half of my investment, plus, I have the sharpest chisels, gouges, knives and turning tools in town.

Just my opinion.....

Best Regards,

Steve

I don't post much on the list, but check about every message and have learned some things and find it interesting.

I had a question about the Koch sharpening system. Does anyone have any experience using the system?

I know it is expensive, but I am curious if anyone is using it on a regular basis. Besides, my birthday, father's day, anniversary and Christmas are all coming up.

Thanks for the info.
