I bought a DeWalt band saw for a commission I had to carve a piano
for the Baldwin Piano Co. It worked great, but the cumbersome
process of disconnecting the blade for each cutout was too time
consuming. I switched to a 1/8" straight carbide bit in my router.
The cutting was probably 5 to 10 times faster and the finish much
smoother. Here's a link to a photo of the carving I cut with my
router: http://www.carvedbyramsey.com/MusicDesk_.jpg
I sold my scroll saw and now use either the band saw or router. By
the way, the Dewalt will not take standard sanding strips. I ordered
a number of custom made sanding strips to fit the DeWalt. If anyone
is interested in them, contact me off list.

Be sure to look at the incredible nature inspired art jewelry hand
fabricated by my wife, Karen Olsen Ramsey. It's worth the time to
take a look!
