[Woodcarver] "Mama" Squirrel

Hey Gang,

Thanks for all the kind comments. Corey, the fur is a combination of small
gouge and detail burning tool. On a larger scale, like my wood spirit
beards, I use gouge work for the large shapes and v-tool for the finer
detail. same difference. The trick for animals is not to use the same combo
on all areas. The bushy tail uses a lot of gouge work first. maybe a larger
gouge than in other areas. on the face, only a very light touch with the
burner, no gouge.

Way back, I got a lot of great detail burning advice out of Desiree's books.
Got even more from her work shop in 2003. yes, this poor critter waited that
long for a paint job. At least I got it done in time for Yvonne's Mother's
Day THIS year <G>.

Keep on Carvin'

Mike that squirrel is fantastic. Did you do the texturing with just carving
tools or a combo of burning and tools? Nice work and thanks for the kind
words on the cowboy!
