Painting:? Generally, prep with shellac or Watco oil.?? Oil colors in wash to heavy, depending on how much grain.? Wax.?
?????????????????????? For antiquing, lacquer, oil and burnt umber, very thin, wipe on, wipe off.
Sharpening:? Constant!? That's the key.? Generally, for very heavy shaping, files.? For heavy shaping, carborundum.? Water stones at 1000 and 4000.? Leather strop with yellowstone compound.? I just made a new strop which is 4" wide and 12" long, to also accomodate plane irons.

What is your favorite painting style ?? And what is your favorite sharpening
style ???
I'll go hide under safe cover as the "experts' respond !!
