Matt,

I bought one about 6 months ago. I have the leather wheel and the glass
wheels for sharpening, the slotted disks, etc. It seems OK for straight
gouges, skews, chisels, and other tools. I have not tried my palm
gouges on it yet, they may be too short handled to work easily although
freehand on the top of the wheel may be fine. It is excellent for my
woodworking chisels (one bevel, straight edge) and for my plane blades.

I haven't gotten excited about the leather strop, but haven't used it
yet on wide flat blades so my verdict is still out on that part.

It cannot sharpen blades like a chip carving knife or other similar
blade. You can't reverse direction of the wheel or sharpen both sides of
the blade by turning the blade. I continue to use my leather hone in
the drill press for that trick after using my DMT 600 grit flat stone.

If you do no woodworking except carving, this is not the best sharpening
system to buy. If you have plane blades and other flat blades to
sharpen, this is a nice tool.
