[Woodcarver] Very Fine Sandpaper

I used a red cloth backed product designed to polish autos. I glued it to a
wooden 'strop' to which I glued, on the reverse, the smooth side up of a
hand picked cowhide to imitate an old fashioned barbers' strop.
I sanded the glaze off the leather and rubbed in fine aluminum powder I
think. Of course, the wood must also be dead flat.
If I *gasp* dropped and nicked a blade, I used the stone and a fine 1 inch
band sander, upright, carefully, to fix the
damage.
Haven't carved in years, hope to get back to it soon.
Hope this helps
