August 15-20, 2010 -- International Wood Collectors Society - Annual Meeting

 

 

The International Wood Collectors Society (IWCS) annual meeting will be held at the Ridgecrest Conference Center (www.lifeway.com/ridgecrest), which is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains seventeen miles East of Asheville, NC and 2 miles east of the arts and crafts community of Black Mountain. 



International Wood Collectors Society (IWCS) has about 800 members in the US and 300 members in 30 other countries.  IWCS website is: http://www.woodcollectors.org/

 

The program will include:

 

    -- Technology track with several sessions like microscopic wood identification, winter tree identification, chemical wood identification, importing wood, etc.

 

    -- Demonstration track with sessions focused on woodturning, woodcarving, carving turnings, etc. 

 

    -- Woman's Program tract with sessions like quilting, journal making, stick weaving, beading, knitting or crocheting, Bingo, etc. 

 

    -- Saw mill set-up and Wood Auction

 

 

We will also be offering a full day tour, which includes the Biltmore Estate and the Folk Art Center.
