Hello Carvers -

Just an update and reminder about the WOM Mint Tin Carving Contest -

1) We've have had a number of prizes donated, including a $50 grand
prize and a number of magazine gift certs.

2) One carver asked if carvings had to be removable from the tin - he
wants to be able to use the tin as a frame or backdrop. The carving
may be attached to the frame - no problem with that.

2) Another carver asked if there would be a category that would
include general whittling - or the most carvings in a tin.

If there are a number of submissions that would fall into a general
whittling category, (like tiny carved chains or ball-in-a-box) then
we'll create a category for that purpose.

We will have a prize for the most carvings in a tin - but we'll be
looking for real individual carvings and not just volume - a tin full
of carved toothpicks might not win that prize.

This contest is shaping up to be lots of fun - don't miss out. The
carvers that won in the Carpenter Pencil contest were the ones that
showed imagination and creative use of the material - so go have fun
with this contest. Please pass the word to your carving buddies that
might not be in the mail group.
