[Woodcarver] carving request

Hi, everyone,

As some of you know, I am the Maine Wood Carvers Association's 
representative to the Eagle Cane Project...providing hand carved 
eagle head canes to disabled veterans.  The project originated with 
Eastern Oklahoma Wood Carvers and has become huge.  You can see more

The project was set up to honor post 9/11 Purple Heart 
recipients.  Here in Maine, we have far less stringent limitations, 
but still have to draw the line at disabled veterans with at least a 
connection to Maine.  I get a lot of requests through our web site...

neither into our guidelines or those of the original project.  I 
recently got a request, and it breaks my heart to not be able to fill 
it.  We have been swamped with requests since my phone number was 
shown on state-wide TV stations back on Memorial Day, and still have 
over 70 requests to fill...with more coming in each week.
So...my question.....
Is there anyone in the Pittsburgh, PA area who would be willing/able 
to make a cane for a WWII veteran? The veteran's long-time companion 
who is requesting the cane is even willing to buy one.  (We can't 
sell them through our project).  We can provide patterns, tutorials 
and support if you would like to try.  Maybe you can even get a group 
going there that would be willing to get involved with the 
project...it's one of the most rewarding things I have done.
