[Woodcarver] Woodcarver] Scroll saw vs. jigsaw

I have no idea what to look for exactly - but I have an idea what not to
look for. I wouldn't recommend buying an unknown bandsaw as I did several
years ago. I knew a man at my place of work whose father had bought a used
Ohio Forge bandsaw that he never used much (there was a clue). Then the
father passed away and the son was selling several of his things. This must
have been 10 years ago. So I saw it and it was a 'good' price and I took it
home. Well, Ohio Forge was a foreign copy and is no longer manufactured and
parts are hard to find. The only saving grace is Ohio Forge was a Delta
copy so some Delta parts fit. But it took me a long time to find that out -
a gentleman I ordered a part from called me personally to make sure it was
being shipped to the correct address and he knew the story behind it and
what might fit, etc. I have had to modify some things a bit to get them to
fit properly.

But the good part is that I have learned a great deal about bandsaws and
adjustments, etc. I finally bought a bandsaw book that has helped
considerably not only about using the saw but replacing and fixing parts.
But my used bandsaw has certainly cost as much as a good quality new
bandsaw.
