[Woodcarver] Chat about my brother Mike .

Thanks Pat and others, for your prayers on my brother's passing. My brother Mike (59) died of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease only a few weeks after his diagnosis. (This is not my brother Pat who sang here with his family here at the GPO.) Mike was a very religious man, a good father to his 12 kids, a successful business man and a soccer coach who touched the lives of many. There were two thousand or more people at his wake and about 1,200 at his funeral. The only funeral I know of where police had to direct traffic. Mike really set the bar high as far as funerals go. I'll be lucky to get 20 at my funeral. LOL. He was a man of few words who taught by example. Simple things like when one if his kids spoke unkindly about someone Mike would take a stone out of his pocket, which he carried with him the last 30 years of his life, and put it on the table. All the kids knew the parable, in the bible, about casting the first stone which stopped any unkind words or gossip. When he heard his diagnosis, which is always fatal, he said that's ok with him. However he did cry for his family. He was very cheerful and grateful for the few weeks God gave him in the end. He had a very peaceful, beautiful death. I'm very blessed to have Mike as a brother.

 I'm sorry to hear about the cut on your hand. I hope you can get back to carving soon. 

I got the altar and ambo (pulpit) finished for the new church, in time for Midnight Mass. It was good. I haven't taken any pictures yet. When I do I'll post them.
