Hi Patti,
If the Woodcarver List isn’t the proper forum to discuss matters concerning the International Woodcarvers Congress, then I don’t know what other place would be.
Our web site ( www.awcltd.org ) should be updated with current 2010 information by next week. It was delayed because of our newsletter editor Kay Wannamaker passing away in December. There was a number of critical pieces of information that was supposed to go into the newsletter that were also going to be added to the website. Now that the newsletter is done and out, the web site is being updated.
I’ll get a copy of the newsletter sent to you Patti. Below is an announcement about the change in venue and dates of the 2010 Congress. Anyone who cares to post this announcement in their clubs’ newsletters or wherever, please do so. It would be greatly appreciated.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
After a 43 year run in the Quad City area (Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa), the International Woodcarvers Congress, sponsored by the Affiliated Wood Carvers, Ltd. (AWC), is moving north to Maquoketa, Ia. It is a small community about 42 miles directly north of the Quad Cities on Hwy 61. They are very friendly and helpful folks who are eager to have the Congress be a part of their community. The show and seminars will be held in Pearson Hall on the Jackson County Fairgrounds, 1212 E. Quarry Street. More information about Maquoketa and the Congress’ move will be available shortly on our website (www.awcltd.org <http://www.awcltd.org/> ) and in future newsletters, which go out to AWC members.
Another big change for the Congress is the dates the show will be held. >From 2010 on, we will be holding the Congress a week earlier than we have in the past. Here is a rundown of the festivities and dates:
June 12 – 13: Accepting carry-in carvings for competition.
June 14 – 15: Closed judging of competition pieces.
June 14 – 18: Various 1, 2, 3 and 5 Day seminars being held.
June 17 – 20: Show will be open to the public (Charge at the door).
June 19 – 20: Judges Critique Sessions.
June 19: Annual Awards Banquet.
June 20: Annual AWC Membership Meeting.
June 20: Release of competition pieces at 4:00 PM.
If you would like to be a part of this historical move for the Congress, you can become a member of AWC for $15.00 a year ($20US for foreign members). Just send a check or money order to the PO Box below, made out to AWC Ltd. You don’t have to be a member to come see the show, but you do have to be a member of AWC to take any of the seminars offered. If you have any questions about the Congress or AWC, please feel free to give us a call or drop us a line.

OK guys, just cool down. As soon as you supply Corey with a bunch of Stubai tools then you can expect something in your mailbox.
You don’t think he just GAVE me something for our vast collection just because I’m a really nice guy and deserve it, do you? That would be excuse enough to get a wonderful carving from him, so that will probably leave the two of you out! LOL!
I’ve got my two treasures sitting on top of my computer at my desk looking down on me and making sure I keep busy.
Thanks, once again, Corey! It was well worth the wait!
