[Woodcarver] question about outdoor varnish

I've used several brands with equal results, from the local paint dealers. There are multiple colors available. The clear would be a water sealer without the stain added.

First of all thank you all for your helpful information. I remember Joe saying Sikkens when he discussed it before and couldn't remember the name.
But for your information Ivan - is there a particular "waterproofing stain"brand name you use? Does it come in colors or clear also? I will have to order the Sikkens if I choose that one but would like a bit more information (specific) if possible. Thank you for your help again!
