[Woodcarver] Carving Tools

I have mostly Stubai, a few Ashley Iles (mostly specialty tools) and some antiques I've picked up over the years.

As with all tools, sometimes you need to adjust the shape and the bevel to your own liking, but the quality of the Stubai steel makes it easy.

I would suggest going to Stubai's web site and downloading their catalog to see the full selection. The bulk of their carving tools come in either the series 55 (full size) or series 52 (Euro size). Euro size tools are smaller, with smaller handles, but certain configurations of sweep and curve are ONLY available in the Euro size tools. The Euro size can be used with mallets or hand.

With regard to purchase, I buy most of my tools through the American Woodcarving School in Wayne. Jerry Cetrullo, the owner, will often include any special requests when he sends in his order.

You could also go to the Geisler Moroder Woodcarving School in Austria. I understand they have almost the entire Stubai line in stock! ;-)

I love my stubai tools. The balance is nice, hold an edge well. The majority
of my tools are stubai. I am wondering about availability. It appears many
of the distributors have a limited supply. Has anyone else noticed this?
