Hi everyone,
Yes - bless you - your prayers are working. I also have good news. All the scans were negative (no cancer in brain/lungs/kidney/liver), except for two "unspecified" areas in the bone scan - lower back and right humerus. Bob, like Don, was sent for x-rays of these two areas, and we'll have results next week. We are praying these areas are not cancer, but arthritis.
Bob's PHA is doubling every 3 weeks, which is what sent us for these scans (with previous cancer surgery he had a few years ago). With the PHA doubling, it is only a matter of time before cancer appears somewhere. Our oncologist is affiliated with the University of Illinois and believes Bob is a good candidate for a new study that has promising results in stopping the PHA's increase. A research team will review his data and we'll know next week whether we start chemotherapy or if we start the new hormone therapy of the study.
Bless all of you, and please continue to keep Bob and I, and Sandie and Don in your prayers.
Sandie - we'll make it through this! Keep taking your vitamins, we have to stay strong and healthy.
Peace,
Susan.

Hi everyone,
The prayers seem to be working. Today we got the verdict from all of the tests and there is hope. The lung cancer does not seem to have spread - Don had one more x-ray today to double check. Chemo will be 3 days next week. The lesions on the left kidney are benign cysts. The right kidney shows signs of kidney cancer. The doctor says that it is rare for two different kinds of cancer to develop at the same time but it appears that they have. (I always said Don was talented!) Fortunately kidney cancer is a slow growing cancer so it can be watched while the lung cancer is treated. After the lung cancer is treated then removal of the kidney is a possibility. The doctor says that this type of lung cancer has a 25 to 40% cure rate.
Keep those prayers coming. Bless you all.
Sandie
