Hi everyone,

Don and I are very happy that our house in Hohenwald is high and dry above the creek. We watched it overflow and completely cover the field on the other side of the creek. It got to within 3 feet of going over the road. The creek bends around the house across the road from us and we usually can't see it. Yesterday we could see it. The neighbor was keeping a close eye on it. We had some water coming in cracks in the basebment floor. A wet vac took care of that.

Nashville is another story. I'm sure you've all seen pictures on tv. The destruction is massive and there are so many people without homes - they have lost everything. The businesses down town are ruined - most had storage in their basements which are full of sewage and now the river. The beautiful Opryland Hotel was evacuated in the middle of the night - 1500 people. Don's house in Nashville should have been ok. We will check tomorrow when we go in for Don's first chemo treatment.

The local tv chanels have had nothing else on since Saturday night. We hope that we will be able to get to the doctor's tomorrow - our usual route in is flooded.
