Mornin' all,
Arrived home after a few days away and found a littler feller from Texan
John Simpson waiting for me. He's perfect, John!! Just like me
now-a-days... standing (or in my case, laying) around waiting for the
notion (and energy) to do something to strike. Thank you John. He's a
fine addition to our collection.
We are members of the local Davy Crockett (Lawrenceburg, TN) chapter of
the national Good Sam RV/Campers Club so we went to the Good Sam's
Samboree in Lebanon, TN (Wednesday-Sunday) because we had already paid
for it and I thought it would be a good change of scenery for me. I
was "fair-to-middlin'" until Friday when I got hit with the chemo's "big
guns" side effects... Spent the day either in bed or on the couch.
Slowly starting to feel a little stronger now and noticed Saturday the
early indication of hair loss so I guess that can be taken as evidence
that "It's working!!". More "clumps" of hair coming out daily now.
When we were staying with my daughter Darlene during my first round of
treatments (cuts our travel time to the cancer center to about a third
the distance from home) I mentioned that, when I lost my hair, I should
paint the moles on my head to look like ladybugs. Son-in-law Mark
didn't think that was a good idea since folk would keep swatting at my
head ;o).
We go back to the oncologist tomorrow for a treatment
followup/evaluation session to discuss the results of the bone marrow
test and whether radiation should be included in the treatment at this
point. The bone marrow test was the last test to determine if the
aggressive small-cell cancer has spread beyond the lung. So far there
is no indication that it has. As mentioned before, the kidney cancer is
a different, slower progressing type so the main focus now is on the
lung. My next 4-day treatment session is scheduled for the 25th-28th.
Thank you again John for the exchange carving and thanks to all for the
support and encouragement y'all have been providing Sandie and me as we
play out this new hand we've been dealt. Woodcarvers (and I must add,
RV/Campers) are the greatest folk in the world!!
