Matt, this project sounds interesting any chance a picture can be shown to
the group and is it his own design or from a pattern?

I received a wonderful secret pal carving from Tom Hindes. It's a quilt
square mounted in a weathered frame made from lumber salvaged from Dodds
Mill, circa 1835, in Chagrin River Lake County, Ohio. Mounted on the face
frame are a gnome and a Morel mushroom. It's an altogether great piece, and
had been hung where we see and delight in it every day.
Thanks for the carving Tom, and thanks for being part of the oldest
carving exchange on the 'net.
