[Woodcarver] Thanks and one more question

I want to thank everyone for their input on my questions about strengthening
and coloring the bark. At one time or another I think I have tried all of
the methods suggested and I guess my favorite is first applying a gel or
tung oil varnish and then using the same varnish as a medium to thin oil
paints to add a was of color - I think very similar to the way Faye did it.
I have also used the thin superglue for repairs and strengthening the edges
of carved knives/letter openers but I do not think it would be good for the
application I have in mind because quite a broad area (flowers/leaves) would
require coating. If I do not come up with something better I will oil based
varnish covered with deft. I have one other idea to try which has exciting
possibilities and will let you know if it works out. In the meantime, can
someone tell me if there is any kind of paint that can be mixed with
lacquer?

Faye - your carvings are wonderful. I am generally hesitant when it comes
to adding color to bark carvings but you made excellent use of it. There is
still a good chance that I will not go with any color on my current carving
- maybe I will go monochromatic. We'll see.

ALEX
