Barb-
I've just looked all over and can find no reference to a Grizzly 12" band saw. Does yours have 2 or 3 wheels? Grizzly has a great reputation so I think you probably have a good machine. What is the model number- I can look it up that way.

The most important part of a band saw is the blade. It cuts the wood- the band saw just guides it. I like Timberwolf blades available through PS Woods and Suffolk Machinery for my smaller blades. And the Wood Slicer by Highland Woodworking is absolutely the best resaw blade I've ever seen.
If you don't want to have to change blades all the time (I know I don't) then a 3/8" blade would do for most jobs. I have 2 good band saws so I keep the 1/8" Timberwolf on the 12" Craftsman and a 1/2" on the 14" Jet. Saves me lots of headaches.
I teach all over. Regularly for the Texas Woodcarvers Guild, but also at the International this year. Last couple of years I've been to Florida twice- though those trips were for teaching the boxes; Massachusetts, the Rio Grande Valley, Minnesota, and three cruises. I don't mind traveling to teach, though it is a bit expensive to get most anywhere. Get 10-12 students though and it can usually be arranged.
