Hey Gang,

At our weekly Erie Canal Woodcarvers meeting last night a friend brought
these tools to show me. They belonged to a deceased uncle who was a cabinet
maker and they were offered to him. Not "weird" enough for a "whatzit", but
thought they'd be interesting to everyone. The blades are interchangeable
with a system I've never seen before. The end off the handle shaft is
tapered and fits into a tapered hole at the base of each blade in the same
way a violin tuning peg fits into the tuning box of a violin. Surprisingly
solid and easy to undo when needed. The "weird" part about this set is that
the bevel on all the edges is on the inside. Is this because they were used
by a cabinet maker? Harold and I saw this done on a "V" tool at an antique
tool booth and thought it was just an "inside" joke for woodcarvers. <G>
