Maura - would we order that green compound directly from Koch, or is there a distributor here in the states, and do you know approximate price?

Thanks. I'm always trying to sharpen better and smarter!

Susan.

My absolute favorite is the green compound put out by Koch of Germany.  It liquefies on the blade once any heat gets to it and prevents the blade from overheating, this is important to me because I run my sharpening system(koch wheels&leather and cotton wheels) on a regular grinder running at 3450 rpms.  I have never burnt a tool using this compound.  For hand stropping,  I prefer flexcut gold compound.  Don't know whats in them and truthfully don't care enough to find out. They work, thats all I need to know.  I sharpen 100's of tools a month as an instructor at the parks dept. so if I don't like a compound for any reason its going directly in the trash.

I know everyone has their favorite compound for honing their tools. BUT, has there been any tests on the different kinds to what in them? Or which cuts the best?
  Richard,
