Hi Kathy,

Don't know the answer to your question but was glad to see a post from you. 
Haven't heard from you since you attended the GOW a while back. What's new? Are 
you still in TN? We are in Hohenwald now. Stop by some day.

I do know that tupelo is the preferred wood for bird carvers and power carvers. 
It does take the detail well and doesn't fuzz with power but could be a bear to 
carve with a knife. If your sample carves easily - go for it.
