I don't know if it would be necessary to steam the thin veneer. If you can
press it back into place so it's flat then steaming isn't necessary. Just
clean the underside of the veneer and surface it going to be glued to,
spread lots of glue and clamp the veneer flat. First dry clamp it so
everything is ready. You'll need lots of clamps because the veneer is thin
and needs to lay flat. Put wax paper between the veneer and the clamps.
Where you can't get clamps to reach you need lots of weight.
You'll never get the veneer to fit perfectly. There are always some slivers
missing. Those areas you'll need to use filler.
