[Woodcarver] rehydrating wood laminate

For warped boards that are thicker, I have laid a damp cloth on the concave side until the wood flattens. I then clamp the piece flat until it is completely dry before removing it from the clamps. When wood dries unevenly, the side that dries slower ends up convex because it shrinks less.

I don't think this will work for a board that has cupped because one side has been carved. I have used this method when I have started with a flat board that has warped while sitting in my shop waiting to be carved.

Be sure to look at the incredible nature inspired art jewelry hand fabricated by my wife, Karen Olsen Ramsey. It's worth the time to take a look!
