A friend of mine (Doug Oliver) has been researching and recording
information about the woodcarver Peter Mansbendel (1883-1940). If you are
interested, you can see what he has gathered at:
http://www.petermansbendel.com/
Doug recently sent me the following question: "I noticed that Mansbendel
carved red gum for some portraits that he executed...do any of you know if
it is still used and available today?"
I'm not familiar with carving red gum. Does anyone on the list have
experience red gum as a carving wood?
Thanks!
