[Woodcarver] No mail from list- gardening

Me too John! We built a new 6' tall chain-link fence around the 55' x 65' 
garden- to keep everything out. We have thigh high corn, about 60 tomato plants 
and a couple hundred bean plants, and much more- even peanuts. We are insane- 
certifiable. Eating green bell peppers, arugula, and green beans now.

Between planting, watering, and weeding there has not been a lot of time/energy 
for much else. The harp is coming along fine though- first finish coats 
tomorrow- yippee!
Next project will be a grasshopper pull-toy with moving legs. That will be in 
July though, after I get back from Iowa and the International Woodcarvers 
Congress.
Oh- I did spend all day in the shop today- going through many years accumulation 
of scraps of wood. How could I have accumulated so many- many hundreds of pieces 
of hardwoods too good to burn. Did a lot of decision making and cleared out 
about 100 pounds of stuff I'll never use. Still have a couple of hundred that 
are 'stock'. I will be able to make lots of toys.
I will NEVER buy/accept another piece of wood- well, except for the basswood I 
always need to make carving blanks for students and customers. And- unless it is 
really special and sooooo pretty-

Hey guys, I'm still alive in Texas.  FWTW.  No mail on the list everyone must be 
in the garden like me.  Got peas and beans and squash up and doing well.  Okra 
is coming along and the corn is waist high.  Pulling weeds  and getting set to 
put up an electric fence to keep mr. bunny out.  Wife won't let me shoot them.  
Fence is easier...........don't have to sit up waiting for them to show.
