Butternut and basswood and tupelo and catalpa are the best for carving



Buckeye is not bad either.



If you are going to use cedar with power tools make sure you wear lung
protection. Cedar and walnut are carigentics.

The dust can give you a lot of problems.



I don't carve cedar as it makes me itch.
