Pat, 

You spelled Ketchikan right...  I live next door on Annette Island in Metlakatla.
A friend of mine just carved a 50’ totem pole to honor the Native Veterans...  
It was so big it took 50 to 60 people to carry it where it was to be installed.  
They then had more to raise it, all my hand, no machinery using poles and ropes.
It was great to see.  Maybe I’ll take a pic tomorrow and put it on facebook...

Steve. Those totem poles are great up there.

 

My daughter lives in Alaska. And she send me photos of the ones in Ketchikan.

 

Not sure I spelled that right. lol.
